New Year's Message From the District Governor
 
Dear Brothers:
 
At this time, I would like to extend my best wishes to everyone and their families for a healthy and very happy New Year. Thank you to everyone in having worked so diligently within the District and for working so closely with the District Lodge. Our District is doing very well...we have built up the district membership  and we have already seen a substantial  increase in the membership over the past four months. I would like to encourage  all the brothers to continue  their work for a better AHEPA and an even larger increase in membership...

A special event, sponsored by the Greek Government's Ministry of Culture and presented at the request of the Cultural Committee of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, will be taking place in our District.

International Recording Artist, Savina Yannatou will be performing a selection of songs from her CD, "Songs from the Mediterranean" on Sunday, January 11 at 6:00pm at the Wang Center on the Campus of the State University of Stony Brook on Long Island.

Immediately following the performance, there will be a dessert reception with the performers in an adjoining exhibit hall, which will feature a historical perspective of  the City of Thessaloniki and its importance as a cultural center.

Tickets for the performance and reception are $25.  Call Georgia Afxendiou, Church of the Assumption Cultural Committee at (631) 751-3774 for reservations, or see the attached document for further information. Ads for the Show Program start at only $50 for a quarter-page and will be available through Wednesday, January 7. I urge you to support this event by attending the performance or purchasing an ad in the Program.  Your support will help to demonstrate that our District is a viable market for Hellenic cultural events.  Your support will also ensure that quality Hellenic cultural programs can continue in our area for both our enjoyment, and for the enjoyment and education of Hellenism to general public.

I hope to see you on January 11 for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of Hellenic culture.
 
I would like to invite all the District Lodge brothers   and all the chapters of the District to participate in the Olympics Poster Contest which will be held on  Sunday , January 11, 2004 at 1:00pm at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Jamaica, NY.   There are approximately 75 participants who have sent in their posters to be judged. This will be followed by a reception....It would be very nice if we could all participate in such a wonderful event...and as equally  nice to  see and support  all the nice work that our Brother John Koronakos and the poster committee has done .  We still have time for donations. Please forward any donations that you may have towards this worthwhile project to Brother John Koronakos...
