1998 Greek Orthodox Folk Dance Festival(FDF)

Scholarship Winners


The FDF is proud to announce the 1998 Dance Scholarship to Greece and the Musical Apprenticeship Scholarship recipients. The Dance Scholarship to Greece recipients are:

Cathi Halfhill, Prophet Elias Church, San Bernadino

and

Joanna Hadjidamianou, St. Nicholas Church, Northridge


The Musical Apprenticeship Scholarship recipients are:


Panos Theodorou, 24, Clarinet, St. Demetrios Church, Seattle

and

Dennis Sourvanos, 14, Violin, St. Katherine Church. Redondo Beach

and

Alex Kalofonos, 18, Clarinet, Ascension Church, Oakland


The FDF congratulates all the 1998 scholarship winners. Cathi and Joanna will be traveling to Crete to attend the MAZOXI dance seminar in July,will video all the classes and make the material available to all FDF participants on their return.

Panos will study clarinet with Christos Govetas of the ZIYIA Ensemble.

Dennis will study violin with Maimon Miller, an accomplished folk violinist who lives in Los Angeles.

Alex will study clarinet with George Chittenden of the ZIYIA Ensemble.
