AHEPA Brother Alex Christy is Honorary Consul for Cyprus, and a member of AHEPA National’s Cyprus and Hellenic Affairs Committee.
Alex has reminded us that all political action is local action. He has proposed that AHEPA National sanction local C&HA action committees, one for each state. Participation would be open to all members of the AHEPA Family. The locally elected chairman of each committee would register, and be in communication with AHEPA National’s C&HA Committee, for reporting and guidance.
[If the proposal is accepted, then the headings in this website will change accordingly!]
Based on accumulated local experience, Alex is preparing a syllabus that educates as to effective courses of action in local politics. When ready, AHEPA National will distribute it to all future local chairmen.

AHEPA National's website offers information to facilitate writing to our elected representatives. This includes names and addresses.
Whether a member of AHEPA or not, one can keep up individually. To do that, use the appropriate section of AHEPA National's website.

A number of AHEPA Brothers and Sisters in the Northwest have been active in tracking the actions of their elected representatives. Some have long experience in dealing with the representatives, and know the value of local politics. They have access to the media of their local Greek communities, and can be credited for a number of local successes, individually and as members of a local group.
The preeminent local group has been the Justice and Human Rights Council (JHRC). [Its members are denoted with an asterisk “*”.]
JHRC is not an activity of AHEPA, which is why this is not a webpage for JHRC. The local group JHRC was founded under the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church, serving Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. JHRC was founded in 1974, the day after the unlawful invasion of Cyprus, a sovereign nation, by Turkish armed forces. Even though the invasion has been repeatedly condemned by the United Nations, the unlawful occupation of Cyprus continues to this day.

If you do not belong in AHEPA, it may be your time to consider joining AHEPA, the premier Greek American Association.
Membership in AHEPA has many benefits. In addition, you can be listed as a local contact for Hellenic Affairs (there is no charge for that).
