**************************************************************************************************************** ALTAR BOYS This
year, we're "graduating" our biggest group of Altar Boys.
This group is also the group that was there at the beginning of the new
era in Altar Boy service. The era where we had both the boys and the parents sign an
agreement that they were all committed to take responsibility for being at
church on time and to call their leader if they were going to miss a Sunday.
For the most part, it worked. But
it does need to be better. This is
also the group that started going to University of Delaware football games
together so they could have fun in a setting away from church.
But most importantly, this is the group that had many rewarding spiritual
experiences during their term of service. Good Friday with Bishop Silas, the visit of our late Bishop
George, serving with the Patriarch at Madison Square Garden, and of course,
being tonsured (the first Altar Boys in Wilmington in over 20 years!) by
Archbishop Spyridon on his visit to Wilmington. For
the remaining Altar Boys, remember THERE IS NO SUMMER VACATION IN ALTAR SERVICE.
A summer schedule will be mailed out to you in late June.
Those boys who will be 11 this year are encouraged to call the church
office and set up a time to come into the Altar over the summer and learn.
That way, come September, you'll be familiar with what goes on in the
Altar.
