1. Navigating through the Greek islands


Students learn about the physical and political geography of the islands and at the same time are introduced to important concepts in the fields of Geography, Geology, and Meteorology, and their relation to Ecology and the Environment. (Topics to be covered include geographical latitude, longitude, weather, climate, the nature of the Mediterranean Sea, sailing information, etc.)

2. The art and architecture of the Cyclades

The art and architecture of the Greek islands with special emphasis on the Cyclades. Descriptions of important historical ports. The ancient city of Akrotiri: archaeological excavations. Biographies of important artists and their work.

3. Life on a Greek island

Life on the Greek islands as mirrored in Greek mythology and literature. The role and importance of the sea in the lives of islanders. Family life, traditions, celebrations, migration patterns.
