Dear Governor Siegelman:
I send this letter of protest against your August 30 Proclamation which
attempts to remember the Tragedies of the Citizens of Asia Minor and the
Independence Day of the Republic of Turkey. You have been MISLED. The
distorted language of the proclamation suggests that the Turks were among the
peoples who suffered the tragedies which befelled the peoples of Asia Minor.
THE TURKS THEMSELVES, THEY WERE THE PERPETRATORS THIS VIOLENCE AND GENECIDE.
Whereas Asia Minor was once the home to millons of Greeks, Armenians, and
other peoples, the Turks have effectively annihilated them ALL using the
among most brutal and barbaric methods ever recorded.
In 1923 the brutal Turkish Republic is formed from the brutal Turkish
Ottoman Empire. They have no independence day as we understand it. To this
day the Turkish government is still unwilling to recognize and attone for THE
ATROCITIES and GENOCIDE against the peoples of Asia minor. Millions of
dollars are pumped into Public Relations firms for the purpose of distorting
the truth and hiding the facts. Much of this money comes from the misuse of
American taxpayer foreign aid dollars.
Do not be misled. Several European countries and US states have issued
proclamations in recent years which contradict your August 30 proclamation.
Do not the stand out in ignorance. Learn the historical truth, retract the
inaccurate proclamation, and issue a new accurate one which condemns the
Turkish Government for refusing to acknowledge their bloody history.
Sincerely.
D. Vomvouras
