Petition for the cancellation of the Proclamation about Turkey, by Governor Siegelman

Governor Siegelman,

We, the undersigned would like to thank you for your brave stance in
retracting a proclamation that has offended tens of thousands of Hellenes
and philhellenes worldwide and raised serious concerns among esteemed
historians in the US and abroad.
The distortion of history, motivated by Turkish lobbies whose objective is the importation of censorship from their regime would have seriously undermined your credibility and would foster even more adventurism in propaganda by agents of the regime in Ankara in other areas of the US.

Governor, we protested vehemently and we stand by our arguments based
on the historical record. The side that deceived you has no historical
facts upon which to base their arguments. They only have lies and propaganda. We are happy that, today, you have acknowledged this and we congratulate you for your sincere understanding.
