PRESS RELEASE

The Federation of Cypriot Organizations in Greece (O.K.O.E.) came into co-operation with the Non-Governmental Organization Hellenic Electronic Center (HEC), which has its headquarters in Delaware, USA, in order to jointly promote a petition "FOR THE RE-UNIFICATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS AND IT'S MEMBERSHIP BID TO THE EUROPEAN UNION".

This petition is to be signed by individuals, associations and organizations, and shall be sent via e-mail to the US President, the British Prime Minister, the UN Secretary General, the President of the Commission, as well as to thousand of members of parliaments the world over, the Press & Mass Media, associations & organizations, international bodies.

The crucial stage in which the Cyprus issue is today (intercommunal talks, possible tabling of a packet solution by the UN, and the procedures for the Cyprus accession to the E.U.) make it necessary to react.

We call upon the member-unions of O.K.O.E., O.K.O.E. Youth, the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (P.OM.A.K.) - the International Committee for Justice to Cyprus (P.S.E.K.A.), P.OM.A.K. Youth - the Federations and their member-unions and individuals, the World Council of Hellenes (S.A.E. and its regions, networks, organizations, etc), as well as every Hellenic association and every association which cares about Human Rights, to act for a successful participation in this campaign. EVERY SIGNATURE COUNTS.

A special call is made to all of the above to assist in the participation of as many as possible friends of the Cyprus in the places where they live and act, communities, churches, schools, etc. making this campaign a success.
