 This page is dedicated to a new technology  the Orthodox Church Podcasting ( Internet Broadcasting  of articles, sermons,and scripture ).

Podcasting is a used for publishing sound files and live broadcasts that can be downloaded and played by subscribers:
 1. on the  Apple iPod 
 2. or the  MP3 Players (music) Player 
 3. or on a  computer

The word Podcast comes from two words iPod ( a mp3 Sound file player from Apple ) and broadcast .
It is a way of publishing sound files and video files on the Internet which alows people to subscribe to a feed of new files.
In the last year software developers  began  to experiment and develop software for broadcasting sound and music to the owners of Apple iPods .Today there are many programs available some for broadcasting and many for listening or downloading broadcasts and sound files

The diffenence between streaming audio and Podcasting  is you have to subscribe to a Podcast  and then the content just gets delivered to you, and you can choose to listen to it whenever you want and not live. Its like te difference between TV and the video Recorder with the VCR you view the program after the booadcast .





How can the Church use Podcasts
1. To make recordings and make them available on the internet for downloading
    The following recordings can be publised on the Internet:
         Sermons
         Church Services
         Orthodoxy Classes
         Chior Concerts
         Seminars
         Speaches of the Archbishops and the Patriarch

2. To broadcast live feeds of :
         The services
         Patriarchal Visits
         Other Special Ocasions for the Church

What software does one need to listen to Podcasts
There are many programs available for listening to Podcasts and some for broadcasting .
Many free programs and some that are sold. There are programs for Windows, Mac and Linux

Windows Podcast Software
iTunes is a free program from Apple Computers
Juice - (formerly iPodder) Lets users select and download shows and music and to play whenever they want on their iPods, portable digital media players, or computers automatically.
BitsCast - freeware RSS/podcast reader that supports both iPods and Microsoft Media PlaysForSure devices.
@Podder - a free podcast client designed for the visually impaired.
Podcast Amp - free tool that lets you preview and play podcasts.
