The Verb

Learning the verb forms in Modern Greek is more difficult than learning the rest of the grammar.

In the verbal system of Modern Greek, both the tense and the aspect are very important. The concept of the aspect is expressed by two different stems, the stem of the present and the stem of the aorist (simple past tense). From these two stems are formed all the tenses and the moods.

There are eight tenses in Modern Greek

and three moods

I will explain what all these mean when I find the time. For the time being take a look at the auxiliary verbs "to be" and "to have".
