TELENDOS

This little island belongs to the Province of Kalymnos, and is situated right oposite its tourist area. There is a channel which separates the two islands and the distance between them is only 700 metres. There are small boats connecting Telendos with Kalymnos, every 30 minutes and the distance is covered in less than 10 minutes.
The two islands were united till 535 A.C. when a terrible earthquake separated them. The capital of the island Pothea was sunk.

Telendos has just a few inhabitants, mainly fishermen, and many Churches. There is a Byzantine Castle on the West side of the island There are two small but very nice beaches on the South East part of the island.
