Ted
Karakostas' Letter to Senators
Dear House Representatives,
I am writing to respectfully ask you to support Resolution
HR 107 that is being distributed within the State Legislature
of Texas. The resolution seeks to preserve historical truth by
affirming that Alexander the Great and Macedonia belong, and have
always belonged to the history, heritage, and culture of the Hellenic
nation. Modern day
Hellenes are the descendants of Alexander the Great.
Affirming the Hellenism of Alexander the Great and
Macedonia is important for several reasons. First, America is
an open and free society that concerns itself with truth. Historical
revisionism is a common trait of totalitarian states and extremist
movements with ulterior motives. There are Slavic elements pursuing
an agenda that was originated by Yugoslavia's communist dictator
Marshall Tito.
Communist dictator Marshall Tito was active in falsifying
history so that he could seize the Greek province of Macedonia.
Slav elements from the former Yugoslavia have attempted to steal
the history and heritage of Greece. The distortion of history
is an intolerable offense and unjust provocation of an ally that
has stood by the United States in two World Wars, the Cold War,
and the Korean Conflict.
The Slavs of former Yugoslavia who are centered around
the area of Skopje have attempted in recent years to steal the
Star of Vergina, an ancient symbol belonging to Hellenism, and
have distributed maps which claim the Greek province of Macedonia.
In recent years, the world has witnessed how tragic the decimation
of culture is with events in Afghanistan. The theft of cultural
symbols and the falsification of history are just as thoroughly
repugnant as the decimation of cultural artifacts.
The falsification of history is an affront to the
values of a free and open society. The attempted theft of the
Macedonian heritage was made possible under the totalitarian rule
of the Yugoslav communists. In our present day, we are witnessing
the threat posed by the irrational and dangerous behavior of the
communists in North Korea. The plan to steal the culture, history
and territory of Macedonia from Greece must be viewed within the
context of the devastation, genocide, and against humanity that
were perpetrated by those adhering to communist ideology. In the
totalitarian states of the Soviet Union, the eastern block, China
and elsewhere there was little use for any kind of opposition
to Marxist-Leninist dogma.
As such, not only were millions of people murdered,
but news and history were conveniantly manipulated in the name
of promoting revolution abroad. The distortion of Hellenic history
by Slavs of the Skopjan region demonstrate that the propanda of
the Tito regime is succeeding despite the failure of Marxist-Leninist
ideology and the failure of the Yugoslav experiment.
In concluding I wish to point out that a great disservice
is being conducted against Americans. Against the overwhelming
evidence presented by historians and historical textbooks which
affirm the Hellenic identity of Macedonia and Alexander the Great,
the newsmedia is confusing the American population by referring
to the Slav Skopjan region as "Macedonia". The American
government and the United Nations recognize that region as "Former
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" (FYROM). Not only is it historically
and culturally false to refer to that Republic with the name Macedonia,
it completely contradicts international law and the terms and
agreements under which international recognition was bestowed
on that Republic.
Your support in helping to pass Resolution HR 107
affirming that Macedonia is Greek would be greatly appreciated.
Such an affirmation would not only demonstrate an appreciation
for a historic ally such as Greece, it would help to discourage
the historical revisionism and expansionism against Greece that
is advocated by Slav extremists.
Respectfully,
Theodoros Georgiou Karakostas
