Letters of Thanks

This proclamation brought tears to my eyes....that is a great accomplishment THANK YOU.....THANK YOU.....THANK YOU.....THANK YOU.....THANK YOU.....
What justice would be in theory if it existed ....for my cousin, her family and all the victims of Asia Minor (Smyrna) that were thrown out of their homes with only their clothes on their backs and no rights to their properties ... is to get their rights back.. of course if justice did existed...in its true form...

Dear Governor, It is with great pleasure and pride that I read your proclamation on the Asia Minor Catastrophe. Commemorating the event in the State of New York is a great achievement for Greece and the Greeks of the Diaspora. It is our duty to remind the world of this genocide commited by modern Turkey against our nation. Thank you for simply doing this.

Thank you governor Pataki for showing that special interest groups and historical revisionists cannot overcome truth in persons of high morale character who learn from the past to shape the future. It is a tragedy to know that other American politicians have succumbed to political posturing and pressure and have minimized the deaths of millions of Greeks, Armenians, and Assyrians. I also thank you for your support of New York City during the 9/11 attack. We look forward in strongly supporting you during your reelection as governor of the great state of New York.

Sincerely,
Dr. William Stratis,

Respected governor Pataki,

I wish to thank you for your proclamation for the hellenic and Assyrian genocide and to support your courage in this. This is not from anti-turkish sentiment but from the understsanding that only the truth can set people and nations free. Turkey cannot go forward unless it comes to honest terms with its past. This is true of all countries including my two, Great Britain and Greece and must include Turkey. Denial of genocide means that it can hapen again and in denial it temains a stain on the people and history of modern Turkey.

Dear Mr. Pataki,

Your proclamation about the genocide of millions of Greeks in Asia Minor during the first three decades of the previous century is one the most clear texts I have ever read on this subject. I sincerely congratulate you about your initiative which I'm sure has created great emotion and satisfaction among Greeks all over the world. I'm happy we are compatriots.

Dear Governor of New York, Mr. George Pataki

I would like to congratulate and thank you for the Proclamation about the Hellenic Genocide, issued on October 6, 2002. The people of New York should be very proud of that. I am one of the New York State resident. It's inspiring to see that you have the courage and honor to stand by the truth. Only when the truth is known Justice can prevail and only Justice will make peace possible to millions of persons of several nations.

Thank you.

Eleni Anagnostopoulos. (Dated October 20th, 2002)

The Honorable George Pataki
Governor of the State of New York

Dear Governor:

As a human being I wish to express my deep respect to your person for your judgment and actions; While in your capacity as the Governor of the great State of New York, you brought forth to the world the memory of the Asia Minor catastrophe. Your message was truly a message of peace, of dignity and of human values. A message that presents a compass of ethics for all humanity. Four years ago I visited Ephesus with my family. The language of the great Ephesians philosopher Heraclitus is spoken there no more. And no Ephesians were there to read the two epistles that Saint Paul addressed to them. To the south in Alicarnassus (now days Bodrum) the father of History Herodotus is recognized no more. To the North in Nicea (now days Isnik) no believers are to be found to recite the Nicean Creed in its own town of birth. These turns are tragic chapters in the history of humanity. We look forth to the a better world, and men of your statue and ethical leadership bring into realization this hope.

Respectfully,

E. G. Lefcochilos, Ph.D., P.E.(Brooklyn, NY) (Dated OCTOBER 22nd, 2002)
